Write A Book And Build Your Business

In addition to being an excellent creative outlet, writing a book can help your business expand in many ways. First of all, becoming an author gives you instant credibility. Whether you want to attract more clients, or gain more notoriety in your field, authorship shows people you are an expert in your field. People are often willing to become a client even without referrals if they see you have written a book.
Second, a book can help you gain entrance into the world of public speaking. Whether you want to give talks to business groups, or on a radio show, your book will help you get noticed. Radio show hosts are always looking for new and interesting speakers. Local cable television shows also like to interview local authors.
If you have a class or workshop that is related to your book, you now have another tool to build the class. You can include the book as part of the class, and use it as a textbook. This will make your class more professional, and will help draw students.
You can widen your scope of clientele by doing book tours all around the states. I once did a book tour in Wisconsin. I was delighted when 4 people who came to my lecture drove to Chicago for my class several months later. I would never have been able to reach people that far without the help of my book.
Fifth, a book is a great way to help you increase your earnings. In addition to money from direct book sales, you can increase the amount of your clients and classes. Also, if you are already a public speaker, you now have a product to sell at your seminars. I know some speakers that have earned as much from sales of their products as they have from their speaking engagements. And, since you are the speaker, you can plug your book at the end of your talk!
